Frequently asked questions.

What can I expect from our consultation call?

Our consultation call is an opportunity for us to connect and discuss your needs and goals for therapy. I'll listen to your concerns, answer any questions you may have, and provide insight into my therapeutic approach. It's a chance for us to determine if we are a good fit and if my services align with your expectations. My goal is to determine if I can meet your therapy needs and to help you determine if I may be a good therapy fit for you.

What are your therapy rates?

My therapy rates are competitive and reflective of the quality and expertise I bring to our sessions. During our consultation call, I will provide you with detailed information about my rates, as well as any available package options or sliding scale fees* to ensure that my services are financially sustainable to you. Currently, my individual fees are $50-$350/session, groups are $25-$100/session, and gender affirming letters are $0-$350 a session. I use social justice pricing and can share more specific solidarity and reparations rates when we meet for a consultation.

*Currently, all individual sliding scale spots are full. $300-$350 spots available.

Do you take insurance?

I am considered an out of network provider. This means I can provide you with a detailed invoice that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. It's advisable to check with your insurance provider regarding coverage for out-of-network mental health services. I recommend you ask your insurance company the following questions:

  • Do I have out of network benefits? The CPT code is 90837 for 60 minutes sessions, 90834 for 45 minute sessions, 90853 for group therapy, and 90791 for the intake appointment.

  • What is my deductible?

  • Do I need prior authorization submitted by my therapist in order to receive reimbursements?

  • What will insurance cover after the deductible is met (60%, 70%, etc.)?

  • What's the average wait time to receive reimbursements once the claim is submitted?

What is a first session like with you?

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other better. We'll discuss your background, current challenges, and goals for therapy. I'll share more about my therapeutic approach and what you can expect from our sessions. It's a collaborative process, and we'll work together to determine the therapeutic style that is most beneficial to you. One size does not fit all which is why I offer a customized therapy package for each of my clients, which includes readings and worksheets.

How can I tell if therapy is working?

Therapy effectiveness varies for each individual, but positive signs often include a greater understanding of your thoughts and emotions, improved coping skills, and increased self-awareness. We'll regularly assess your progress using mental health screeners and adjust our approach as needed. Open communication about your experiences and feedback is crucial in gauging the effectiveness of therapy.
